A Happy Hanukkah! ✡ A Merry Christmas! ✞ Happy Kwanzaa!
There has been only one Christmas – the rest are anniversaries. ~W.J. Cameron
Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.
“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?
It came without ribbons. It came without tags.
It came without packages, boxes or bags.
And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before.
What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store.
What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
― Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself
Peace on Earth, good will to men,
kind thoughts and words of cheer,
are things we should use often
and not just once a year…
~Norman Wesley Brooks,
“Let Every Day Be Christmas,” 1976 (excerpt)
Let Holidays not become a thing
Merely of merchant’s trafficking,
Of tinsel, bell and holly wreath
And surface pleasure, but beneath
The childish glamour, let us find
Nourishment for soul and mind.
Let us follow kinder ways
Through our teeming human maze,
And help the age of peace to come
From a Dreamer’s martyrdom.
We celebrate the holidays with parties and food
Spend time with family and everyone’s in a good mood
Soon it’s all over and decorations are put away
And then we do it all again for the next holiday
Look forward to the New Year and keep hope alive
That our country brings our troops home
So no one else dies
Our country’s in turmoil, it gives me a chill
But we’ll see better times soon…..I know we will
Try not to let worry get you down
Smile, keep your chin up,
And laugh out loud
We’ll certainly survive hard times once more
Because we have great strength and resolve
We didn’t know we had before
Take one day at a time, and treasure each day
We need to work together because that’s the best way
Don’t let hate determine how you act
Instead open up your heart and don’t attack
Make sure our country is the best it can be
Let’s all work together….you and me!
Please end the hatred towards our fellow man
We’ll all feel better if we’re holding hands!

May you have the gladness of Christmas which is hope;
The spirit of Christmas which is peace;
The heart of Christmas which is love.
