Fmr. Argentinian Military Leader Jorge Videla Sentenced to Life | Al Jazeera (Video)

One of Argentina’s former military leaders has been jailed for the torture and murder of dozens of people during the so-called Dirty War.

Jorge Videla will serve a life sentence for the crimes committed between 1976 and 1983. He was first sentenced to life imprisonment in 1985 but was freed by Carlos Menem, the Argentine president, five years later.

Videla’s life sentence is a victory many relatives of those killed have long been waiting for, as Al Jazeera’s Lucia Newman reports from Buenos Aires.
